A long-term favourite artist, deer-o, is celebrating 5 years on DA. As a retrospective celebration of a beautiful body of work, here is my selection of the 10 works I think are among her best.
I am in awe of her mastery of abstract emotion. Here's looking forward to the next 5 (and many more) years.

The kindness of others
Huge thanks to the anonymous benefactor who gifted me a month's free Core Membership. This is totally unexpected, and I fear I may not do it justice, as I'm sure I won't use many of the features that it offers. Nevertheless, I take it as a great compliment that someone felt moved to make the gift - my sincere thanks, whoever you are!
Dialogue of the deaf
Apologies to my most long-standing and appreciated watchers, but I won't be posting any more content on DA unless or until DA fixes the several bugs that I've reported. Reporting a bug or any other problem on this site now seems like trying to have a dialogue with someone that doesn't want to hear or respond to your concerns. Most fundamentally, the 'block' function is not working, and I do reserve the right to block my work from people who comment inappropriately on models, or who treat the site like a pre-censorship version of Tumblr. Update - thanks to Jim52-Photoworks, I now understand what the issue is with the 'block' function. Still no response from DA admin to my queries, however! I guess I'll continue with the occasional post but, even discounting the mess that is Eclipse, this site doesn't fill me with confidence any more.

The core message is that, whereas today’s internet is owned by everyone and no one, China is in the process of building something very different — a new infrastructure that could put power back in the hands of nation states, i
Omnes eodem cogimar
I came across this quotation a few days back; My grasp of latin is slender at best, so I resorted to the internet and found that it comes from an ode by Horace, where he adresses some thoughts to a younger friend.
It basically translates as "We are all drawn to the same place".
In Horace's ode, the words are about the inevitable fate that awaits us all, but it made me think about the images that I create and the work of others that I follow on DA and elsewhere. As a male hetero photographer, I have always been drawn to female beauty, and I'm grateful to those with similar passions, and greater skills, whose work is a constant source of inspir
